A self supported nordic ski touring expedition to Jämtland (Northern Sweden) designed to provide you with the confidence to undertake a basic ski tour under your own steam in the future.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Specifically on this trip we will cover the following:
Nordic ski touring techniques – efficiency on the flats and ascents, and control and balance for the descents and icy conditions.
Basic avalanche awareness and winter survival techniques.
Navigation/ route planning and execution (including planning strategies for an expedition with long-term weather forecasts/personal ability etc).
Winter campcraft and snow shelter construction.
Risk management in an arctic environment.
A chance to see the following wildlife: Reindeer, Deer, Moose, Capercaillie, Lynx and possibly the northern lights (aurora)
